Michael Binns Passes Away at JRMC, in ADC Custody – Monday Update
August 1st, 2011 by Joe BurgessFormer Monticello Schools choir director, Michael Binns. Sr, passed away Sunday, at 4:38 pm.
Binns was convicted by a Drew County Circuit Court jury on July 14 on 2 counts of 2nd degree sexual assault, Binns was hospitalized at Baptist Health Center in Little Rock on Wednesday, July 20, before returning to the Drew County Detention Facility on Thursday, July 21, and being transferred to the Arkansas Dept. of Corrections on Friday, July 22.
According to Dina Tyler, spokesperson for the Arkansas Dept. of Corrections, Binns was being treated for seizures at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff,and had been hospitalized there since Wednesday.
Binns’ body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy, to determine the cause of death.
According to Tyler, “No foul play is suspected, at this time. All indications are that the death was due to natural causes.”
Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home will announce the service times for the funeral.
